Blue Jean Knitting Project

I found these knitted jeans on Knitty.com. They were in the Winter 2005 catalog. So, this is my next project. I don't have the blue jean yarn yet but I am hoping to get some soon. In the meantime, I am knitting them with some yarn I already have. I think this will be good for me since it will give me a "practice" run first too.

Oh my goodness this took me forever. Not b/c its hard but b/c it took me forever to complete. I am not entirely happy w/ it, as the joining could have been done better. Live and learn. I hope the next one is better. But it will be awhile before I do a next one! lol!

finished the blanket finally. I feel as if I knit as slow as molasses but honestly, it get bored with big projects. I need to do better.

So, all that is left is the embroidery. I hope to finish that quickly but I am working on another blanket for a friend too, so we shall see.

I am not happy about the pattern calling for seaming the sides after the fact. This made it very difficult to estimate how long to knit the sides and then caused me problems with seaming the edge. If I do anything like this in the future, I will knit the sides as I go.

wow! i didnt think it was going to be this big! I guess it makes sense, but this is going to be a HUGE blanket! Im much slower in knitting it than I should be. This one is for a friend's baby, so I really need to get on the ball w/ it. I'm so excited to see how it turns out. Its so easy to knit too. I'm using circular needles. I think I am going to get rid of all my straight needles..these are just so much easier to deal with when juggling babies and other activities and in traveling. :)

Off to start the green now!

I knitted this hat for a friend's baby that was born the same day as my baby. It didn't turn out well, so im not going to send it. Im actually going to take the ears off and make it a regular hat.

Progress on the Blanket

Finally finished the moss (seed) stitch borders! OMG it seems like it took forever! All I have to do now is:
finish the border on the bottom on the blanket;
stitch the side borders to the body of the blanket; and
embroider the hearts!

I hope I finish before his birthday!

A friend of mine wanted to see the progress I have made on the green blanket. With my tooth extraction last Wednesday, I haven't made much progress. :) I hope I am off the pain medication soon and can go back to this. I am on the 3d skein! Wow...this will take about 8 skeins if I am estimating correctly. Doing the pin tucks is not that difficult (once you learn). but, I am not looking forward to seed stitching the sides (the pattern had you do a few of them that you can see at the bottom, and then put the sides on a stitch holder..I have to go back after the entire blanket is finished and seed stitch up both sides and join. Can you say yuck!

i am making progress on the blanket. i have learned to do a pintuck, which i never did before. this is going to be a BIG blanket.

i cant wait to finish though b/c im making The Babywearer next. Its a poncho that allows you to wear your baby in an Ergo or Mai Tai. Its so cute! You can see what it looks like here:

Maggie's Little Bag

I knitted this little bag as a gift for a friend of mine's daughter, Maggie. This is the first time I added any embellishments to my knitting and one of the first times I knitted anything in a pattern. This bag was fun but I would knit in in the round if I did it again. and the I-cord could have been done much better. Practice makes perfect, right? Well, I've been practicing!

This isn't the greatest picture of the blanket, but it is such a cute picture of the baby! :) This is my first blanket and I estimated it took me approximately 80 hours to knit. Wow!

This is my first sweater and hat. Ethan has outgrown them by now put they were cute. of course, it was my FIRST one, so not that great of a job. I didn't like the yarn I chose to do this with. I won't use that type of yarn again. It didn't feel good. :(

The first thing i started knitting was soakers. I use cloth diapers for my baby and wool soakers are the best covers, so that was my inspiration for learning to knit. A few pix of soakers I have knitted are pictured here.

This is one of the first ones I did. Then i "tried" to add a flower! That didn't turn out too well. But, hey, it was my first time!
